Miruthan
Perceived as one of the most illogical movies, Miruthan. One liner of the story is, hero just unconditionally kills all the zombies, saves few and scarifies himself for his love.
In general, movies have visualized love with few routine principles, which can be easily binned into one of the following categories.
- Hero likes heroine (for obvious reasons) and establishes love.
- Hero/Heroine fights with each other first, and "accidentally" establishes love later.
- Hero/Heroine unconditionally sacrifies their comfort zone, hence establishes love.
- Hero/Heroine do not see each other, still establishes the divinity (?!) of love through "other means" of communication (!).
- One of them die, but still the other one demonstrates their love for eternity (!!)
- They loved in last ஜென்மம் so intense, so that it continues in current ஜென்மம் too (?!)
& so on.
We have seen all these kind of stories with tons of examples. In all these movies, the the basic chemistry is, there is a definite affinity exists between the opposite gender. None of the movies have questioned this fundamental principle.
However, in Miruthan, this principle is questioned.
Hero falls in love with a girl in a normal state, which gets intensified when the girl correctly interprets about his zombie sister. Hero, however hesitates to express his feeling. Unfortunately, he is also "zombied" towards the climax. At this point, his brain cells start sending the signals to kill her/anyone. However, he mentally fights with his own zombie feeling and saves her. Although he could win the zombie feeling, he fails to express his love, but makes a bigger mark post his demise.
In general, human feeling (especially love) is expressed with the expectations with the very few exceptions (such as parentage). In this movie, although love is depicted unconditional, it has gone one step ahead by fighting the mental feelings.
