Managers: must be a catalyst for problem solving rather than direct problem solvers perse

  1. Be modest
    1. Blind spot: Most young managers try to prove themselves, so they end up in discouraging their sub-ordinates from speaking up thereby fail to benefit from their experiences
  2. Listen seriously
    1. Blind spot: Don't look at mobile / watch when someone else is talking
  3. Invite disagreement
    1. Induce disagreement to identify the new blind spots
  4. Focus the Agenda
  5. Don't try to have all answers
    1. Encourage the sub-ordinates to have the answers rather than trying to find all possible answers/solutions
  6. Don't insist that a decision must be made
    1. If you can't get agreement on a decision, don't rush to one.
