How to make USB Drive Bootable
- Connect the USB
- Under DOS prompt
- DISKPART
- LIST DISK (now see the USB disk number, it might be DISK 2)
- SELECT DISK 2
- CLEAN
- CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
- SELECT PARTITION 1
- ACTIVE
- FORMAT FS=NTFS
- ASSIGN
- Get into DVD drive where you have WIN7.
- D:\CD BOOT (and hit enter.Where “D” is your DVD drive letter.)
- D:\boot\BOOTSECT.EXE /NT60 E: (where E is your USB drive)
- You will have the message
Target volumes will be updated with BOOTMGR compatible bootcode.

Successfully updated NTFS filesystem bootcode.
Bootcode was successfully updated on all targeted volumes.
- Copy your Windows 7/Vista DVD contents to the USB flash drive.
- Your USB drive is ready to boot and install Windows 7/Vista
- Change the Boot priority in BIOS
