Project formulation

Need

  1. Drought tolerance
  2. Bending - Stem formation
  3. Early detection of SEX
  4. PY/WY
  5. Copicing need in C. equisetifolia

Sequencing

  • BGI - estimated size of C. species 340 per haploid genome, so most species will have ~700MB
  • Cost today: ~1.5 crores
  • Which species to go in?

Markers

  • Apart from PY/WY/drought, what will you address?
  • SEX

  1. Owning genes
