Couple of updates about Amma
She has been under insulin for the last 20 years. During January, a simple pain in lower stomach which was diagnosed to be stage 1a cancer in uterus. While preparing for surgery to remove the uterus, noticed very low BP, which upon scanning, revealed 3 major blocks in heart. Further suggested to execute open heart surgery immediately and uterus removal later.
During mid Jan, open heart surgery was carried out, grafted two veins, while the other was left due to its smaller size. Due to diabetic, she was further admitted in Diabetic Center to flatten the sugar level, while looking at post-surgery care. During this time, we were preparing her for second surgery, while the cancerous growth moved to stage 1b to almost 4.3cm blob.
During mid-March, the uterus was removed along with the cancerous tissues. Further biopsy of the removed tissues had 30% malignant and 70% benign cell mass. Although the entire totipotent mass were removed, malignant nature has a an ability to re-proliferate again, hence further suggested to go for Radiotherapy (in the pelvic region) followed by chemotherapy.
During the post surgery care, we moved to Bangalore during May, however we could not execute the radio/Chemotherapy due to Home quarantine. Meanwhile we were attempting to monitor the sugar level (with a embedded chip in the body, that measures sugar level every 15 min 24/7 and sends us the data wireless) to sync the right food.
While we were getting ready for radiotherapy, a small inflammation started developing in the leg, which quickly started spreading within two days, and was diagnosed to be Gangrene. The spread of inflammation was fast, hence immediate surgery was suggested. During surgery, Her half of toes were amputated along with fingers to get rid of inflammation (4th June) and further arrest the spread of infection.
While She was being dressed on the wound daily, the wound healing took much longer than expected and pain She went through has been intolerable and very acute even for cleaning and dressing. This has further led to another surgery to deep clean & removed the dead tissues (which is 40%) around the cut-wound and is being planned on 19th June and further suggested to vacuum based dressing (to heal in a faster). In the very recent months, She has become immobile; with continuous pain and multiple surgeries with multiple causes.
On 20 June, the another cleaning surgery was carried out to removed the 20% dead cells. Later it was found that it is reinfection. Further, a vacuum based dressing (a machine attached to leg, which creates a vacuum 24/7 for healing) is in place, while it appeared that it is towards a positive direction. As the time progressed the dressing was carried out with AQUACEL® Foam for 3 months.
During early August, further diagnosed with cataract in eyes and lasic surgery was suggested, which was postpond for complete healing of toe-wond.
