			இவ்வரிகள், மஹாபாரத கதையில் படித்ததாக ஞபாகம் இல்லை. பீஷ்மம், not just name of a person, but defined as concept by itself by saying, இன்றியமையா பஞ்ச பூதங்களில் ஒன்றான மண்ணையும் துறப்பதன் மூலம், பிரம்மச்சரியதின் புது அர்த்தமே, பீஷ்மம்.

			Some one has beautifully interpretted it.

	தீமை தெரிந்தும், தடுக்கத்தவன் அத்தீமையின் மூல காரணமாவான். In summary, As per Beeshma, Dharma is only protecting his promise. ஆனால் தர்மம் என்பது உலகத்தின் நன்மையை கொண்டதே அன்றி, ஒரு தனி மனிதனின் சத்தியத்தை கொண்டதல்ல - என்ற சாதாரண உண்மையை புரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை. தர்மம் உலக நன்மையை பொறுத்து காலத்துக்கேற்ப மாறுவதென்பதையும் அறியவில்லை. விளைவு..! குருசேத்ரம். 			No. Krishna never threatened anyone, but the explained "actual Dharma" as he explained to Arjun (Geethai). He also explained to Drona as well as Beeshma during the war.


			To Dronacharia, He explained the difference between Guru and Aasaan as, குருதட்சிணை கேட்பவன் குருவே அல்ல. அறிவை விற்பவன் "ஆசான்" எனவே அறியப்படுகிறான். குருவென்பவன் கற்ற ஞானத்தை தானம் வழங்குபவன், விற்பவனல்ல. தட்சிணை, மோகத்திலிருந்து பிறப்பது. தானம் அன்பிலிருந்து பிறப்பது. மோகம் பேராசையின் உருவகம். எனவே ஆசான் தரும காரியங்களுக்கு தகுதியற்றவன். Because you had asked குருதட்சிணை as kingdom for Ashwathama, you loose the status of Guru. GIVE UP in the war.

			And Similarly, to Beeshma. தர்மம் என்பது உலகத்தின் நன்மையை கொண்டதே அன்றி, ஒரு தனி மனிதனின் சத்தியத்தை கொண்டதல்ல. தர்மம் உலக நன்மையை பொறுத்து காலத்துக்கேற்ப மாறுவது. தர்மம் என்றெண்ணி, தீமையை உருவாக்கியவன் நீ. வாழ்வனைத்தும், நீ தர்மம் என்றெண்ணியது, உண்மையில் அதர்மமே. So GIVE UP.

			Beeshma realised his mistake only at his end of life and Gives up in the war.

			Beeshma is undoubtedly a legendary unparallel warrior. That's why while introducing, I said, கங்கை மைந்தன்; தேவ விரதன்; ப்ரம்மச்சரியன்; தன் முடிவை தானே நிர்ணயிக்கும் வல்லமை படைத்தவன்; இறை அவாதாரமாம் பரசுராமரும் வெல்ல முடியா பராக்கிரமசாலி, வாழ்வனைத்தையும், ஹஸ்தினாபுற நலனுக்காக அர்ப்பணித்த தியாகி; A total self-less personality.

			However,

			What he believed is not the true Dharma was my pointer. He has been (only) advising the Dhritarashtra and worrying, but never actionized. வெறும் சொல்லினால் பயனில்லை. உலகின் மிக சிறந்த சொல் செயலே !. He kept quite, when many adharma was happening around him out of his own ignorance.

I was just thinking about the two characters, Beeshma and Karna that popped a day back.

As we know, from the epic of Mahabharat, Beeshma and Karna, both had many blind spots in their path, of which many will know Karna's blind spots, while Beeshma's adharma is generally de-surfaced, however portrayed as a great man. I am trying to interpret from my little understanding on this.

கங்கை மைந்தன்; தேவ விரதன்; ப்ரம்மச்சரியன்; தன் சாவை தானே தீர்மாணிக்கும் ஒரே ஷத்ரியன்; இறை அவாதாரமாம் பரசுராமரும் வெல்ல முடியா பராக்கிரமசாலி, வாழ்வனைத்தையும், ஹஸ்தினாபுற நலனுக்காக அர்ப்பணித்த தியாகி - என்றெல்லாம் ஆயிரம் புகழிருந்தும், the one he thought was Dharma was wrong. In his view, his promise of "protecting Hasthinapur is dharma", hence he acted as a slave to the individuals in the regime of Guru vamsam.

Couple of few examples are,

Beeshma, being the eldest & the greatest physical power, had the highest power of decision making in the kingdom, however,
(a) Never stopped Dhritarashtra from adharma
(b) Kept quite while decision on gambling
(c) Kept quite while Draupadi stripped
(d) Slept when Duryodhana denied the land to be given to Paandavaas
(e) Missed discouraging war
(f) Missed controlling Durian although Beeshma was capable

The pointer is very different w.r.t. Karnan. He is just an unfortunate person, but never made a mistake knowingly,

(a) His birth was unfortunate
(b) His training was denied by Dhronacharia
(c) His training was further stopped in the middle by Parasuram
(d) A capable Shathria unaware of his own caste
(e) He was denied to prove his abilities against Arjun throughout his life.
(f) He had to tie-up with Durian for obvious reasons
(g) Although the better performer than Arjun, politically defeated in the war
(h) Krishna has to beg at him for his demise in the war.
and so on...
